Shivamogga, October 30, 2025: Malnad Cancer Hospital, Shivamogga, organized a Breast Cancer Awareness Program at the KSRTC Central Bus Stand, Shivamogga, to educate the public about breast cancer symptoms, prevention, and early detection.
The event was designed to reach a wide audience in a public setting, ensuring maximum awareness among citizens about the importance of timely screening and treatment of breast cancer.

Interactive Awareness Activities
To engage the public effectively, 90.8 FM Radio Shivamogga conducted an interactive “Cancer Awareness Quiz”, which created curiosity and enthusiasm among the crowd. The quiz aimed to test and enhance people’s understanding of breast cancer causes, warning signs, and preventive measures.

Adding a creative touch to the event, students from the Department of Social Work, Kaatil Ashok Pai College, presented a powerful street play (bayalu nataka). The play depicted the challenges faced by women diagnosed with breast cancer, the stigma surrounding it, and how early detection and proper treatment can save lives. The performance received huge applause from the audience and succeeded in spreading the core message “Awareness is the first step toward cure.”

During the program, Dr. Amrith B.P., Consultant Medical Oncologist at Malnad Cancer Hospital, delivered an informative session on breast cancer. He explained in detail the symptoms, diagnosis methods, and modern treatment options available for patients. He emphasized that early detection can lead to a complete cure and encouraged women to undergo regular health check-ups and self-examinations.

Dr. Amrith also highlighted how lifestyle choices, diet, and regular screenings can reduce cancer risks. His speech helped dispel several myths and motivated many to take preventive health steps seriously.
